Hi madniaco, It starts with a brass rod and as elements are added I bend the rod. The first glass tube is a fuse - I just blew the ends, cleaned it up and added bits to it. Thanks for being interested in my work!
I bought these from an ebay seller in the UK. Unfortunately, it was about three years ago (on my old computer) so I don't have any records. I know I ended up searching for "no foil", "pointed" swarovski crystals. But I think I'll have to find the crystal size number and include that in the search terms. Wish I could be more help.
Yes, it does bother me. I hope I'm not a one-trick-pony, especially with my signature piece, the winged mechanical hearts. I think every creative person has moments of self doubt, hyper-critical times when you wonder if you really are "an artist". I still have times when I can't call myself that despite being part of a national exhibition, winning art prizes and selling hundreds of pieces to clients all over the world. Not every piece I make is going to be totally different and my little mechanical hearts pay the bills. I look back at items I made in 2009 and cringe. But all creativity is a journey, not a single piece and I still love sitting down at my work bench everyday. Thanks
