how did you do that?

Hi madniaco,
It starts with a brass rod and as elements are added I bend the rod. The first glass tube is a fuse - I just blew the ends, cleaned it up and added bits to it.
Thanks for being interested in my work!

have you thought of making one with a philosophers stone as the final vial?

Thanks lisa-sciannella - love that idea - philosopher's stone - can you elaborate colour etc? The photos don't do the crystals in the final vial justice.

I think the philosophers stone is red. Like, if you've ever seen the first Harry potter movie, the stone towards the end of the movie, that color :D. I think…I am 95% sure ;)

Hi lychee-neko. I could write two or three paragraphs on steampunk but it would be easier if you just do a search. There are some amazing steampunk artists here. It can be hard to define.

where did you buy the swarovski crystals?

Hi PepperBean,

I bought these from an ebay seller in the UK. Unfortunately, it was about three years ago (on my old computer) so I don't have any records. I know I ended up searching for "no foil", "pointed" swarovski crystals. But I think I'll have to find the crystal size number and include that in the search terms. Wish I could be more help.

Hi ShiShiShpprWonnykins,

I've got these new pieces in my ebay shop: [link]
I've also got an etsy shop: [link]

I don't make a huge amount because I'd rather make a few things well and a lot of things poorly. Thanks for your interest in my work!

Does it bother you that all your necklaces are essentially the same thing? Just saying.

Yes, it does bother me. I hope I'm not a one-trick-pony, especially with my signature piece, the winged mechanical hearts. I think every creative person has moments of self doubt, hyper-critical times when you wonder if you really are "an artist". I still have times when I can't call myself that despite being part of a national exhibition, winning art prizes and selling hundreds of pieces to clients all over the world. Not every piece I make is going to be totally different and my little mechanical hearts pay the bills. I look back at items I made in 2009 and cringe. But all creativity is a journey, not a single piece and I still love sitting down at my work bench everyday.
Thanks
